June 12, 2026  SPE Japan Section conference, “Title”
“Plastics Product Manufacturing Technology Series, Part 2: Manufacturing Technologies for Large Plastic Molded Parts”

Abstract
In the field of polymer processing, especially in the automotive industry, there is a growing trend toward larger plastic parts to achieve vehicle weight reduction, parts reduction, and process of manufacturing reduction. To realize this trend, development is progressing for both processing equipment and molding technologies. Although overall dimensions increase for plastic parts, molded part thicknesses trend reduce, and critical dimensions demand high dimensional accuracy. Processing equipment therefore requires not only high-precision control but also greater power and larger capacity, while mold must be required higher accuracy, durability, and improved cooling efficiency. Molding techniques that suppress warpage and achieve high-quality surface appearance are essential. Equally important are design-for-manufacturability techniques for large plastic parts to ensure stable mass production considering the manufacturing process. This two-session series, held in April and June, comprehensively addresses these diverse technologies through technical presentations that provide practical insights from product development to mass production.
The June session focuses on manufacturing technologies for large molded parts, covering sheet/film processing methods and their product application technologies, approaches to achieving high aesthetic appearance, CFRP part manufacturing that also considers recycled carbon fiber, and technological innovations in large molding machines—presenting a wide variety of topics across many fields. We invite everyone involved in plastic parts manufacturing to attend, to draw reference for your own R&D and business activities, and to take advantage of this opportunity for cross-disciplinary exchange.
