Ahead of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, the progress of sportswear and equipment has been contributing on appearance of athlete’s abilities. Apparently, the basic material technology has influence on sports in various aspects. In this lecture, we will focus on “functional materials” that support athletes in the sports field and introduce a wide range of topics from basic research to specific application and cutting-edge technology.
